The collection was captured between Palatul Ghica in Bucharest and Villa Gamberaia in the hills of Florence, two places brought together by the story of Princess Jeanne Catherine Ghyka. In 1896, Princess Ghyka acquired Villa Gamberaia and began restoring and reimagining its historic gardens. Around 1898–1900, working with gardener Martino Porcinai, she transformed the former parterre into the celebrated parterre d’eau, introducing the mirror-like pools that would become one of Gamberaia’s defining features. Under her vision, the villa and its gardens became a place of beauty, culture and refined gatherings, welcoming an international circle of artists, writers and guests.

More than a century later, Alexia & Antonia returns to this story, capturing the collection between Bucharest and Florence. From the grandeur of Palatul Ghica to the gardens Princess Ghyka helped shape at Villa Gamberaia, the two settings create a dialogue between Romania and Italy, heritage and modernity, past and present.
